Subject: bowling center blackmail ???
|
Hi all, I am a long time lurker in this group ( never thought I had anything to add) and I have a situation that I would like to get some opinions on... here is the situation * small midwest town 2 centers, mine was purchased 2 seasons ago by a group that runs multiple centers 1st year new synth lanes 2nd year remodeled some, each year they have raised the prices of open play and league bowling and they are now the most expensive house in town (other center also had same improvements and slight linage increases) this year my house has decided that they are going to charge league bowlers a FEE of $27.00 per team per season to basically "manage" our scoring ie: use the computers have names and handicaps and keep records. THIS IS MANDATORY any league that does not wish to bow to these demande will be forced to basically "open bowl" put in all their own info keep records and be treated in every way as "open play bowlers" even to the extent of management saying that they will not guarantee lane availability if other "open bowl players desire our time slot. I should point out that of all the alleys in our area we already pay the highest lineage. Unfortunatly we feel we have no options since there are no slots open for our league to move to another house. my questions are: Have any of you heard of this type of "fee" ? Do you feel it is out of line to expect that we pay league lineage eaqual to open bowling fees this house charges? What, if any recourse might we have? I personally have opted to vote with my wallet and not give these owners any of my money and have quit 2 leagues as of this moment, however most people while they recognize the outright blackmail feel that they must pay up OR simply dont care enough to fight back. I am so frustrated right now that I have no logical response and I think that perhaps I am letting my anger at this outrage get the best of me. I look forward to hearing from any of you who have taken the time to read this far.
