Subject: Tropical Storm Bowling Balls

A friend of mine has a niece that is just starting out in bowling. For
her confirmation present he wants to get her a brand new bowling ball.
I've seen her bowl and she throws it straight with a slight backwards
hook.
My friend keeps telling me that he should get her a tropical storm
ball. I keep telling him no, only cause she doesn't bowl enough to
know for sure how she wants to bowl. I told him a plastic spare ball
is a good starter ball, not a hundred dollar ball.
Is this the right thing to do, or should he spend the money on the ball
