What I would like to know is if bowling centers will have to purchase new balls after 2008 with the USBC logo on them? I personally do not use a house ball but we have some people that do. Was just thinking about the cost of that and how that adds to a center's ability to keep costs down.

I think that the main place USBC would be looking is at tournaments. In our center there are a few 16+ rubber balls being used by people who dug grandpa's ball out of the closet in order to join a league, people with tape outside the ball, etc. but they are such poor bowlers, we just let them go. Unless someone makes a fuss a lot of the current balls would still be used in leagues. The more competitive leagues would enforce the rules so that it's fair to everyone, but the majority of the bowlers wouldn't even know the rules have changed. The same would probably be true of house balls. The only problem our kids would face would be when they went to Youth Tournaments. House balls surely need to be replaced every so often so as this is, in theory, 3 years away it shouldn't make too much of an impact. It'll just mean a rush on houseball purchases at that time.
