Subject: Ques. A time limit for Postponement bowling?
|
Last season our league had a small problem with postponement bowling. A couple of teams that were granted postponements were dragging thier feet and taking several weeks to get around to making up the games. so of course this would mess up the standings. The league rules just followed the ABC rules for postponements (Rules 110a-g) and that basically says you got till the end of the season to make up the games. So we want to add a time limit for this .( which it says you can do in the rules book) I'd like to know what some other leagues rules do or what would be a good time limit to put on it. -- Al

Several of the leagues that I bowl in require that the postponed games be made up before the next position night. litefrozen wrote: > Last season our league had a small problem with postponement bowling. Our time limit says it has to be made up by the next week, or the games are forfeit. Thanks for the info everybody. I think we will work in the two week time limit with all make up games to be done prior to the next position round. Games not made up will be a forfiet. al

If the league rules do not have a time limit set then I assume, from my own leagues, that you have till the Official time limits to complete the postponed games. We are now introducing the 2 week rule unless certain circumstances are duely acknowledged by the League Body. Mike BTBA Qualified Instructor

Most leagues I bowl in allow for two weeks. Must be made up prior to final position round. League secretary sets the date that is agreed to by both teams and both teams bowl on that day. This eliminates the BS that some teams try to use to unnecessarily delay the league. Some teams try to set it to bowl alone, but I as the opposing team captain do not allow that because I feel that both teams should bowl on the same lane conditions. Leagues can not just deny a postponement, but it can limit how long it takes to make up for the postponement. I do not think it is allowed, but I think that a league should be allowed to limit a postponement and that they should be allowed to require notice except in cases of emergency. The league governing body should decide on cases of emergency. All make ups have to be done prior to the next position round. That's the way our rules read. If the postponements are not, forfeit. Just one option. Jim Enjoy! the leagues I have bowled on don't have a "postponement" they have the option to pre-bowl only and for that you have to have a vote of the League officers (always approved) and you must bowl before the actual night of bowling is to take place. If you don't get your games in then you lose all points th night you're suppose to bowl. that would put a stop to the waiting till the end of the season to bowl.
