It sounds like you are talking about a scratch money league or perhaps a handicap league with a payout. If that is the case then the following is what I have experienced: In the scratch money leagues I bowl in it is match points for each player and team points for the team for each game and it is ususally as follows: 1 point to the winner of each game 3 points for the winning team each game. So, for a 4 man team you would have the possible total of 7 points per game and 21 points (base on three games) total for the night. 1 point for each man would be 4 points and 3 for the team would equal 7 points per game. I bowl in both a 3 man league and 4 man. For scratch leagues there is usally a team max of all the averages of the team members. For instance in the 4 man league it is 835. This helps keep the teams somewhat equal and the entire league votes on this. Usually at the end and beginning of the each season. I do not ever remember any reference to a specific rules setting a required point system or team averages. I think it has been a process of evaluating averages at the end of the season to come up with team max's. And the point system has been kept simple for accounting during the season. And it has always made some since. There was a suggestion one year of changing the winning team points to 4 for each game. This was for the 4 man league. The members rejected it ... we had the 7 point system down and the "8" button didn't work on the calculator!! (kidding) Anyway ... is that what your were asking? I don't know about any specific resource (abc.com?) but I've been in a league for a number of years which uses a simple 3 point system - wins and loses - that's it. Clean, cut and dried, un-complicated. It is a handicap league: 80-85% (I forget which) of difference between team averages for the night. But the points are just the three. I like it. Geo. There are other point systems such as... Each bowler in your line up bowls for a point plus the team bowls for 2 points. So for a 3 man team there would be 5 total point available for each game. 3 games would have 15 points plus 5 more on the totals for a grand total of 20 points. -- Eddie "GSalisbury" <salsburyg at comcast dot net > wrote in message news:RP2dnfT7SJ8-J5_fRVn-uQ@comcast.com... >I don't know about any specific resource (abc.com?) but I've been in a > league for a number of years which uses a simple 3 point system - wins and > loses - that's it. > Clean, cut and dried, un-complicated. > It is a handicap league: 80-85% (I forget which) of difference between > team > averages for the night. Yes I know. I've bowled using a couple of them: the 3 pointer; 7 points (2+2+2+1); team/individual match and series systems (20's + etc.). I like the 3 point system the best. You win or lose - that's it. What's good about this is if you go 1 (or god forbid<g >) 0 for a night or two the rest of the guys aren't running away from you so fast. You have a chance to recover. This is a 16 team league - reasonably decent - some good averages and ours is one of the better teams. Earlier in the year we had faded to like fifteenth or there abouts I think. Last Wed we took over 1st place. They never got that far away and we were able to keep picking away at it and finally got there. If it had been one of those extra points systems well I don't think we'd be there (yet anyway). Just my view. G.
