What do you do when an idiot is in charge? Today I went to the governors office and a State Senators office. What a waste of time we get in electing officials? I got my first Social Security card under the name Bill Harold Rollins at the age of 10 or so and things are fine with the Social Security Adminstation but when I needed to renew my driving license in New Mexico they refused because they had me recorded since 1962 as William Harold Rollins and do not recognize me as Bill. To get the State MVD or the Federal SSA to change my name I need a Birth Certificte which would not be a problem had I been born in New Mexico but since I was born in Kansas it is not something I have in my pocket.

I'm have a similar problem except it is with one of the major credit card groups and national department store. It seems a charge was made to an old account I have but not used for a long time. The claimed purchase was made either online or over the phone .. no one can tell me at this time. And it is claimed they have been billing me for the charges for the past year without any response from me. I have never received a thing from them! What gets really interesting is the matter has been turned over to a collection agency. Just after Thanksgiving I got a collection notice from the agency. This was the first time I was aware of anything going on with that old account. To show you how screwed up corporate adminis are, when I contacted both the credit department and the order depts they both have no records of any transaction! And they were concerned why I have not used it more often! When I raised this with the credit agency they tell me it is my responsibility to prove I did not make any purchases to the account. Since I have nothing to show either way I'm screwed! On top of all that they are now threating my credit report! So, I contacted my local congressional representative and they have sent a letter to the agency pending a new review by both the department store and its departments and the collection agency. I don't know if it will do any good but I a exhausted! My wife and I just got through this past year with identity theift. What a process. We had at one time over $5000 in checks, internet transactions and phone charges we never made! We have recoved 99% of the money but we still get threats from the check processing companies that we could be held accountable from some of the phony checks until it can be cleared. Again, they try to lay the responsibility on us. I used our congressman for that one to. It really help. And we were told that we could be dealing with this for the next several years. I think the "idiots" are all around and lurk in devious ways to screw with our lives. You know just because your paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you! As I was writting the post it sounded crazy and it reminded me of the discussing I had with the credit agency. What really is disturbing is what is to prevent any if these collection agencies or large retail corporations from making crap up? With todays lending processes so completely controlled by credit scores you can see how the process can be used to discriminate and repress loan applications. One or more negative scores from a credit agency or department store can really threaten an individuals lability to obtain a loan. Of course a lot of things could be resolved if we all were able to pay for thing with cash... Will Rogers suggested the way to solve traffic problems was by not allowing anyone to drive their cars on the roads until they were paid for! Now there is an interesting idea!!! I feel for you. I went through this with my wife. It seems that in NYS anyway they require that you put your exact name as listed on some form of official identification. Her birth certificate had a completely different first name so we used her SSA card. That listed her name with one additional letter in her first name. The DMV insisted that the extra letter also appear on the drivers' license. They cannot seem to find the phony people who get licenses but can harass the rest of us to no end. I happened to serve jury duty last year. While at the court house they were looking for blood doners. When I saw all the people going up I decided that must be the good detail. While I was waiting to give blood they also had DMV there to re-new drivers' licenses. To my supprise my had expired last January (on my birthday). Everyone was paying $48 to renew for 8 years. But since my was expired they went back to the renewel date in January and charged me $43 (the fee before the rates went up). Then after renewing my license and giving blood they let us go for the day. Never got to sit on a case. Then they sent me a check for $40 or so for the one day I was there. Anyway good luck with your license.
