I had placed a post regarding the ABS shoes and how people like them that had been Dexter shoe users previously. My pair of SST5's had failed on the right shoe (my none slide foot). The inside of the sole had separated and actually torn apart. So a portion of the sole was actually missing. I contacted Dexter and they told me to send them the shoe. In the past when something like this had happened I would take it to a Dexter rep and they have repaired my shoe. This time they didn't and said I should contact Dexter. Well last week I had a new pair of SST5's on my door step! I figured the best I could hope for was a discount! The only problem with the new ones were they are cut differently and did not fit. So, I went to my local proshop and they exchanged them for a 1/2 size larger. It is all good! Dexter really came through and appreciate the extra effort! Jack B

I have been bowling with the same pair of SST5's for the past 6 years. I finally decided it was time for a new pair (I didn't really "need" them since my shoes are in excellent condition... I just wanted a new pair). I decided to get a pair of SST6's. I used them for the first time tonight. The extra width does wonders for your balance! I bowled a game of practice before league and found that the normal #5 heel will need to be well broken in before I can actually use it. I switched to the #7 red felt heel and had a perfect slide. I was nailing the pocket the first game but having a little carry trouble... clean 215 game. Second game opened up big time... clean game with a five bagger 2nd-6th frame, 257. Third game broke down into a severe over/under condition... 4-6-7 split, 4-6 split, 4-6-7 split to start the game. I finally found that the best shot was 12 at the arrows to no further than 10 at the break point. Leaking it out would send the ball Brooklyn... pulling the ball would leave a corner pin or go through the beak for a potential split (I avoided, by shear luck, two more splits in that game) . I was lucky to walk away with a 173. All in all, I really like my new SST6's... Is it March 18th yet? :-P Jack B wrote: >I had placed a post regarding the ABS shoes and how people like them that >had been Dexter shoe users previously. > >My pair of SST5's had failed on the right shoe (my none slide foot). Tony, My SST5's did not hold up very well at all. I have had them a little more than 2 years. Maybe that was part of the reason they replaced them. The inner liner was falling apart when I sent the non-slide shoe in. The new ones look like they are better made than the old ones. And they are more comfortable now that I have the right size. The extra width does wonders for your balance! AMEN! I switched to Dexter in the last year due to plantar fasciitis (ouch) and the width and cushioning on the inside has completely won me over. The heel/sole combinations are a total bonus.

Lisa, < plantar fasciitis > I have the same problem. I wear an orthotic insert for both feet. I have a pair for sports and a pair for my dress shoes. Made the world of difference! That's OK...High heeled bowling shoes fool with one's slide anyways (don't ask how I know) Lisa wrote: > "Jack B" <elbundo1@comcast.net> wrote in message > news:nuSdncEjyOoobbnfRVn-tw@comcast.com... > > Lisa, > > > > < plantar fasciitis > > > > > I have the same problem. Yeah, I had to stop wearing heels too! LOL I remember the day the doc checked my feet. He placed his finger around the heel of my foot. I thought I was going to shot across the room from the pain. I have to go in this year for an evaluation for new devices. Thank heaven for therapy now though. I used to hate getting out of bed or getting off the couch after sitting a while because it was so painful. I couldn't wear my Linds because the bottoms were so flat and hard (I even tried Dr. Scholls inserts). Since my feet weren't flat the Dr. wanted to try drugs and therapy for a while before orthotics, and it worked. Woo hoo!

I have to admit, the Peacock SST6's (the ones you have) are pretty damn awesome... but no longer in production. I bought the Blue Metal/Black Trim SST6's. I also like the Burgundy Heavy Metal SST6's a lot. I got mine off Ebay brand new, and liked 'em so much I went back to Ebay and got a second pair waiting in the wings ($60 per pair).

They still have great customer service & people who haved worked in the show industry and taught by the "old school" guys. I had an issue come up on the duratips years ago on the first SST and they sent me out extras. My new SST's are just as nice as the first ones and are not wearing out as fast. Thanks Dexter!
