I don't know how many of the posters to alt.sport.bowling also subscribe to Bowling Digest Magazine, but it is being discontinued. Yesterday, I received a copy of Century Publishing's magazine, TravelAmerica, which included a note regarding the suspension of publishing of Bowling Digest Magazine. The note indicated that I could have the remainder of my subscription filled with TravelAmerica or with Baseball or Football Digest Magazines or with Cruise Travel Magazine. I have been a subscriber to Bowling Digest since its inception in the early 1980's and am sorry to see it be discontinued. However, I feel that I should be able to get a refund on my unused portion of my subscription rather than having to subscribe to a different magazine in which I am not interested. If anyone else here feels the same, please e-mail the Customer Service Department of Century Publishing at cs@centurysports.net and let them know. I just sent them one.

I had ordered the "Bowler's Digest" through Publisher's Clearing House for about $5 or $6 a year during their sales promotions. I was shocked to find out they wanted $30 a year to renew. I waited for another Publisher's Clearing House promotion and renewed for about $5 or $6 a year. That was when they had 6 issued a year. They changed to 4 issued a year (4 seasons), last year, but the price was still $30 a year to renew. I thought something was "going on" when they kept sending me renewal offerings for 3 years at $90. On another note "Bowling This Month" has 12 issues a year for $30 and 24 issues for 2 year at $50. This magazine seems to be a better buy for the money. I get hand-me-down issues from one of my team mates so I get them for free. Joe Z S. W. I had just subscribed for myself and a second subscription for my (foster) son. I am not at all interested in spectator sports. Even in my 50s, I would much rather be active than sit and watch someone else play a game. I will look for "Bowling This Month".

I have been a subscriber to Bowling Digest as well. I also received the similar notice and the same magazine. Since I also am a fan of Baseball, I told them to send me baseball Digest instead. I always enjoyed that magazine. BTW, does anyone recommend any other bowling magazines? Thanks in advance.

The writers are some of the best in their area of expertise. It has so much good stuff I find myself re-reading articles from years before. "Bowling This Month" is a great magazine, but its articles are geared more towards Pro Shoperators and Coaches (i.e. very "deep" and "technical"). However, if you take the time to really READ/STUDY (not just skim, etc.) the articles, you'll be amazed at their content! :)
