Subject: Bowling Ball survives crash landing; damage to core?
|
3 or 4 weeks ago, I didn't like the sensation in my thumb that the ball was sliding or shifting position slightly, so I used some bowler's grip cream...as I have done before with decent success. After a few frames it still seemed not quite right, so I used some more. And in a perfect case of too much of a good thing being not so good, I stuck in the ball and lofted it at least 8 feet up in the air (could have qualified for the infield fly rule, and almost took out the television scoring monitor). The noise was deafening, but thankfully it landed on the lane as opposed to on the edge of it and there were was no visible damage to the ball. That was the last shot of the 2nd game of our league, and after removing some tape and putting in a fresh strip without the grip cream I proceeded to bowl a solid 246 in the 3rd game. So.... the ball appears to be unscathed, and I've been using it for many games since then, but am wondering if a fall from that height onto the lane could have damaged the core. And is there any way to know for sure one way or the other ---i.e. if its damaged or not? Just curious, though I suspect most will say that if its rolling ok then its ok. thanks.
