Lets bring back the concept of developing rotation and entry angle through
individual ability. Buying these qualities in equipment and then competing
on easy conditions have killed the integrity of the game. ABC in their
infinite wisdom condoned these "improvements" in hopes of controlling the
downward spiral of members. Then center owners joined in. Put out an honest
condition and watch all your customers go where they can average 200 +. The
ultimate insult is that we had to create a special name for honest
conditions .........SPORT Shot. Practicing on these shots with this
equipment is like practicing 3 foot putts into the Grand Canyon. I've bowled
in the same Assn. for 31 years. In 1974, we had 11 200 + averages.The high
was 207. This year , we had over 400 200+ averages. The high was 232. Even
worse when you consider that we have 2000 less bowlers now. Further example,
20 years ago I threw the ball well, bowled 4 leagues and averaged 212. Now
I shoot 1 league, never practice and average 224. I don't pretend to AVERAGE
224. I'm just someone whose average is 224. The game isn't fun anymore.
Shooting 650 is reason for depression. The game is in its death throes. No
one will attempt to introduce integrity back into the sport for fear of
scorn and ridicule. Please prove me wrong, for I still love this game.
